GREENS IN WITH A CHANCE IN LOCAL BY-ELECTION !
On 12th Dec 2019 there will be a local by-election in one Dover District Council ward, Guston Kingsdown and St Margarets, due to a Conservative resignation.  In May 2019, Greens came second to the Conservatives in this ward. So we are campaigning to get a Green onto DDC which has 18 Conservatives with a ruling majority and 12 Labour councillors in opposition currently and NO Green.  We think our candidate, Sarah Gleave, would be a great addition to DDC. In May, Greens in Kent grew from zero to 15 district councillors, (11 won from Conservatives, 4 won from UKIP).

GENERAL ELECTION: DIFFICULT CHOICES WITHOUT FAIR PROPORTIONAL VOTING
We are standing a candidate in the General Election because voters deserve choices. Individual voters should decide if they want to choose a bigger party than us in parliamentary elections (a tactical vote), or to vote Green on 12 Dec 2019. If we had fair proportional voting, choices would be easier!  Many more voters NOW choose us in COUNTY and DISTRICT council elections. We say NO to 9 years of austerity, NO to the financial elite of Johnson and Farage, YES to action to combat the climate and ecological crisis, YES to Europe and a people’s vote. We agree with Caroline Lucas who voted against this General Election. We don’t think Johnson should throw out our 2017 British People’s Parliament because it doesn’t do what he tells it to.  Nevertheless we are proud to have ex-Dover sea-farer and animal rights campaigner Beccy Sawbridge as our Green Party candidate. Here is a link to our fantastic Green political programme: Green Party Manifesto .  You may want to check out People’s vote website on tactical voting.tactical-vote.uk
